Aarrow Productions
Aarrow Productions, Inc. (API) was established in 1999 as a full-service Aboriginal communications company. In 2002, the company entered the television and video production field, and since then has grown into one of Canada's leading Aboriginal-owned production companies. The company is celebrating its 10th year in business in 2009.
Aarrow Productions is dedicated to providing training and contract opportunities for Aboriginal editors, writers, field producers, hosts, camera operators and production staff.

The New Canoe: a weekly Aboriginal arts, culture and travel television series is broadcast across Canada on CTV's Television's A channels and APTN. The series is versioned in Cree and other Aboriginal languages with support from the Canadian Television Fund's Aboriginal Language Fund Program. API is currently in production with season 8 with host Art Napoleon (Cree) and arts reporter Michael Glendale (Kwakwaka'wakw). The new season will air in June 2009 on CTV's A channels.From Bella Coola to Berlin: a one-hour historical documentary about nine First Nations men from Canada who took part in the German Volkerschaus, or "people shows" that were a popular form of entertainment in Europe in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. The documentary is licensed to CTV's A-Channels, Bravo! and Discovery Germany's Geschichte channel. The documentary was versioned in Cree with support from the Canadian Television Fund's Aboriginal Language Fund Program.
Sounds Like Motown: a one hour documentary on the relationship between Motown superstar Martha Reeves and a Canadian high school R&B Band. The documentary is licensed to Bravo!, APTN and SCN. Motown High, the feature length version of the documentary, opened the Victoria International Film Festival in 2008, won the best family documentary at the Garden State Film Festival, and was an official selection at the Detroit-Windsor International Film Festival.

Barbara Hager (Cree/Metis) is the owner of Aarrow Productions, Inc. Since 2002, Barbara has been the host and director of The New Canoe, an Aboriginal arts and culture series broadcast on CTV's A channels and APTN. The series is now in its eighth season.
Barbara directed From Bella Coola to Berlin, a historical documentary about nine First Nations Canadian dancers who toured Germany in 1885 as part of the 'people shows' of Europe. The documentary was versioned in English, Cree and German and broadcast on Bravo!, A-Channel and Discovery Germany.
Barbara is the author of two books: Honour Song, (Raincoast Books, 1996), and On Her Way: The Life and Music of Shania Twain (Penguin/Putnam, 1998). Her articles and commentaries have been published in The Globe and Mail, Chatelaine, Focus on Women, Indian Artist, Bluegrass Magazine, The Georgia Straight and US Rock.
Before becoming a producer and director of television programming, Barbara worked for five years as the Aboriginal Liaison at the Royal BC Museum, and for ten years as an arts administrator for the City of New York, City of Richmond (KY), Victoria Native Friendship Centre, Canadian Native Arts Foundation and the First Peoples Cultural Foundation.
